Middle Persian or even Pahlavi is the Iranian language spoken during Sassanian times. It descended from either Old Persian.
Middle Persian was normally written in the Pahlavi script. A language was as well written down in the Manichean script by Persian-speaking Manichees.
Transition to Modern Persian
A modern-contemporary descendant of Middle Persian is Modern Persian. a latter is distinguished from either a previous by, among more items, existence written inside a different script, the Perso-Arabic script, and by the heavy total of Arabic loan. Pahlavi Middle Persian is the language of quite an big body of Zoroastrian literature which details a traditions & prescriptions of the Zoroastrian religion which was the state religion of Sassanid Iran (224 to ca. 650) prior to Iran was defeated per Arab armies that introduced Islam.
